Breast Augmentation Expectations Charlotte

From start to finish, here’s what you can expect:

Before Surgery

When you’re ready to explore breast enhancement surgery, the next step is to contact us. We will make this as easy as possible for you. You are welcome to email us, call us, or even send us a text message from your phone. Then, one of our associates or patient care coordinators will set up a complimentary consultation for you.

During your consultation, you will first talk with one of our nurses about your medical history and go into a little more detail about your breast goals. Next the surgeon will meet with you, talk to you about the procedure you are interested in, and examine you. If your consultation is for breast augmentation, our nurse will help you try on different implants to determine which size is right for you. Either Darla or Patty will meet with you next, to give you a financial quote and to answer any more questions you might have. Darla or Patty will then help you schedule your pre-operative visit, your surgery day, and your post-operative appointment.

Your Breast Augmentation or Enhancement Procedure

Dr. Bryan Criswell and Dr. Kara Criswell regularly perform breast augmentations and other breast enhancement procedures in our new CCPS surgery center in Charlotte, North Carolina. Our facility is equipped with the latest state of the art technology while remaining warm and inviting, designed specifically for our patient’s comfort and safety. Our surgery center is accredited by the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities, all of our staff are BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) certified, and all of our clinical staff are ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certified.

When you arrive for surgery, our clinical staff will get you checked in and ready for surgery. We have a special pre-op waiting room for you where you will see the surgeon and your anesthesia provider. Your surgical procedure will take about an hour for a typical breast augmentation, and two to three hours for a typical breast lift or mastopexy augmentation procedure. Your surgery will be performed under general anesthesia. After surgery, you will recover in our accredited recovery unit, being fully monitored one on one by a dedicated Registered Nurse until you are comfortable and ready to leave. You will need to plan on having a responsible adult (18 year old or older) take you home and spend the night with you.

For our out of town patients, or patients who wish extra assistance, we can also help arrange a ride home or to your hotel with a professional care giver, who can spend the night caring for you.

After Surgery

After you leave the surgery center, one of our clinical staff will call to check on you later in the day and to answer any questions you may have. You may walk around your house that evening, and you can shower the next day, being able to lift your arms above your head. You will have some light gauze over your incisions, with a surgical bra on top of this, which you will leave on until you shower the next day. Most of our patients do not have much pain or nausea, but as part of your pre-operative visit we will write prescriptions for you for pain and anti-nausea medication.

Your first post-operative visit will be about a week after surgery, and depending on your specific needs, your surgeon will then usually want to see you at 2, 4, and 6 weeks after surgery. Most of our patients are able to return to work within a week of surgery and light exercise is permitted 2-3 weeks after surgery. Higher impact aerobics are OK about 4 weeks after surgery, and there are generally no restrictions after 6 weeks.*

So that’s it. Our staff and surgeons do this day in and day out, and we will make sure it is as routine for you as it is for us. Give Darla or Patty a call today and let us set up a complimentary consultation for you.
